2011 Australian citrus crop rebounds

The 2011/12 Australian citrus crop is estimated up significantly from last year as citrus growing regions recover from years of drought and recent extreme weather events.

Citrus Australia CEO Ms Judith Damiani said that navel and Valencia oranges, and mandarins, will be in plentiful supply this year.

“Last year we had an unusually light crop with ‘jumbo’ sized oranges. This year we will return to average crop and sizes, which is great news for our international customers and Australian consumers.”
