Citrus Australia welcomes expansion of Pacific Seasonal Worker Pilot Scheme

Citrus Australia has welcomed today’s announcement by Prime Minister Julia Gillard on Nauru, Samoa, Solomon Islands and Tuvalu being invited to join the Pacific Seasonal Worker Pilot Scheme.

This year hundreds of Pacific seasonal workers have been used by citrus growers throughout Queensland, New South Wales and South Australia to harvest a bumper crop said Citrus Australia CEO Judith Damiani. All of the citrus growers who participated in the Scheme say they are extremely happy with the Pacific seasonal workers; they are already planning for increased numbers in 2012.
